Vice President of Business Development

Thomas W. Cox serves as Vice President of Business Development & Human Resources for Ion/Apex Electric.

As Vice President of Business Development, Cox develops and maintains strong business relationships with regional and national business leaders. Through these relationships, he understands their business requirements, presents recommendations, and negotiates optimal business solutions. During contract negotiations, Cox reviews the job with both the business leaders and his own team. He develops quality minded, cost effective plans, meeting the needs of all parties.

At Ion/Apex Human Resources are highly valued and an integral portion of the company’s success. Cox, as Vice-President of Human Resources, oversees recruiting, managing, and benefits for all employees. One of the benefits Ion/Apex offers is career path identification and management. Cox helps employees identify and achieve their goals by creating and tracking an appropriate training and personal development path. Employees develop the skills they need to achieve the career goals they desire. Cox expresses the beliefs of Ion/Apex when he says, “Properly trained and motivated employees are key to a successful team.”

Prior to joining Ion/Apex Electric, Cox was a global executive for Schneider Electric / Square D Company. He successfully managed multiple teams, based in numerous countries around the world, and he understands the importance of team development.

Cox is involved in many civic, charitable, and professional organizations. He has worked on several Habitat for Humanity projects around the country. He has also served as a Board Member for Junior Achievement, and as President of the Board of Directors of Summit Hills Country Club. Cox is currently active in the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Valley Chapter – American Builders and Contractors, serves on the Building Industry Association Commercial Council (formerly Home Builders Association), and the Northern Ky. Industrial Park Management Council.

Cox holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Business Administration from Thomas More College. Cox has attended and lead executive level programs focused upon leadership, strategy and direction, and maximizing project efficiency.
