Jeff Kennedy is the chairman and chief executive officer of Ion/Apex Electric, a premier commercial and industrial electrical contractor. Kennedy founded Ion/Apex in 2009, and he has guided its expansive growth. Kennedy also created, founded and serves as a board member for the IonApex Employee Cooperative LLC. In each of these leadership positions, Kennedy is concerned with advancing Ion/Apex as a premier electrical contracting company, and supporting the well-being and professional advancement of its affiliates.

Kennedy addresses the Sales and Marketing, Operations, and Financial aspects of Ion/Apex as a unified whole. He achieves an operational balance that leverages the company’s strength and allows for expansion into new growth areas. Kennedy has introduced a broader spectrum of commercial and industrial electrical contracting by matching client needs and employee talents. He works to increase the diversity and redundancy of employee talent as well as a diversity of clients. Kennedy continues to recruit, assemble, and expand a talented management team to facilitate the growth of Ion/Apex.

Prior to opening Ion/Apex, Kennedy served as a divisional head for Garfield Electric and was instrumental in implementing large automation and technical based systems for Ford Motor Company, Lockheed, Monsanto, Abbott Laboratories, Cincinnati Bell, Time Warner, and Union Carbide. . In 1994, Kennedy led a study to determine how major commercial entities could utilize a high-speed fiber optics network. This research included interfacing with and understanding the needs of 100 top executives and upper management teams of Cincinnati’s largest employers. This study helped with the design and implementation of the fiber optics system and networks currently in place.

Kennedy serves on board of the Ohio Valley Construction Education Foundation and is active in the design of training and mentoring programs for people wishing to advance in the construction field. He is also well known for his unique and creative team development and leadership programs and seminars. He guides Ion/Apex successfully by helping every employee to see career possibilities and to seize opportunities. He is a member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber, Associated Builders & Contractors, Home Builders Association, the Northern Kentucky Electrical Association, and the Greater Cincinnati Electrical Association.

Kennedy is a state certified master electrician and multi-state licensed contractor. He studied construction management and industrial technology at Northern Kentucky University.
